Five Star Fish Limited
We take our responsibility seriously
What is Responsibility?
To us at Five Star Fish RESPONSIBILITY IS...
- Integrity
- Environmentally friendly and sustainable practices
- Social accountability
- Dedication to product quality and food safety
- Being self-critical enough to exceed our customer' expectations
Is your relationship with food a healthy one? Obesity is a modern problem driven by poor diet, lack of exercise and a poor relationship with our food. Fish and seafood can be beneficial in helping to tackle this problem.
The facts
- Obesity figures in England have nearly quadrupled in the last
25 years (NHS Direct)
- Heart and circulatory disease is the biggest killer in the UK
(BHF CHD Statistics 2004)
- Most of us are consuming too much saturated fat (Henderson et al 2003)
- High saturated fat intake is linked to Coronary Heart Disease and diabetes (British Nutritional Foundation).
At Five Star Fish, we are passionate about responsible food choices;
we feel it is important to provide our customers with healthy food options.
- Fish is a good source of protein and is very low in saturated fat (FSA)
- Fish, especially oily fish, is rich in omega 3 essential fatty acids
- There is evidence to suggest that 2-3 portions of oily fish a week
reduce the chances of a heart attack (Burr et all 1989)
The British Heart Foundation and the Food Standards Agency recommend
at least two portions of fish a week, one of which should be oily fish.
